Documentary – Under This Sky

A story about Cancer, Trauma, Healing and Hope
Whilst earlier video diaries look at her cancer treatment, Under This Sky, expands ABIGAIL’S story by using the camera and recorder as her “eyes” and “ears” to document her personal cancer survivorship, her creative and healing process and the world around her.
Using eclectic filmmaking styles, Under This Sky explores our relationship with ourselves, each other and our world.
Under This Sky has so far been awarded Best Short Documentary by Toronto Film and Script Awards for the 23rd edition, and was given a Finalist Award in the same category by UK Film Awards.

My background as a photographer and filmmaker
I was awarded a distinction for my MA in Filmmaking by The University of East London. I work spontaneously and intuitively and see the camera very much like a musical instrument or a paint brush and I love the way you can combine audio and music with image in film. My work tends to be experimental and I focus very much on the natural world and humankind’s relationship with it, in both my photography and filmmaking, where often the subconscious and the conscious collide or interweave.
